MIP STUDIO SESSION #4: Transformation + TRAIL PARTY!
MIP closes the year with the fourth event of 2024 on Nov 29th.
Dare to enter our little studio in the North of Amsterdam for an informal, informative fun night. We invite an interesting person and they invite their interesting person and so forth and then magic happens.
Sorry, what’s that magic?
Well, maybe our first theme was resilience and a freediver showed us how to do breathholds and she brought an art historian to roll wine leaves with us and talk about peace and then the next session was on innovation and an artistic researcher discussed the trouble with tech solutions and she invited an acrobat who built a robot to practice with and during session #3 : agility, the first clarinet player from the Concertgebouworchestra did live improvisation with an electronic music wizard who he had just met in this program and maybe…
…you should have been there!
Also, we have beer AND there will be dancing. Get your tickets fast for our fourth and final session of the year!

Session #3, Agility
STUSTUSTUDIO
Chrysantenstraat, 20
1031HT Amsterdam Noord, NL
If there is such thing as an eloxir safeguarding against an unpredictable world, it is a mastery of AGILITY.
Swinging with the punches is just a part of modern day living. It's about adapting to constant change, staying resilient, and finding balance amid life's ups and downs. Our capacity to conjur our agile selves often marks the schasm between success and failure in our work, personal health and relationships.
But this is only one, narrow side in thinking of agility. For there is perhaps no greater measure of it than its physicality. Health and agility go hand in hand. A fact that becomes more and more presient as we age.
If there would be one area in which the two worlds meet, our mental and physical agility, it would be in the world of music.
❝
What makes the Clarinet difficult? lt is precisely that it seems so simple. You cannot miss a note. You have no safety net and almost everyone knows it. You can learn the technique, but for me it is about making it more universal; to play it in such a way that everyone is touched.

Session #2, Innovation
In this session, we will delve into four radically different approaches to innovation presented by four distinct speakers and artists each coming at the question, what is INNOVATION, and is it always a good thing?
Marissa Memelink: Artistic Researcher
Human tendency to rely on technology for solving complex issues, known as techno-solutionism, often leads to new problems rather than solutions. Marissa Memelink, an artistic researcher at SETUP, explores this phenomenon through interactive installations and workshops. Join her at The Most Interesting Person to uncover your own techno-solutionist tendencies and examine the societal beliefs behind this behavior. Memelink, a creative researcher and moderator specializing in art, technology, and society, focuses on generative art and develops frameworks for analyzing it. She works at SETUP, a media lab aiming to promote a technology-critical society through art and expertise from diverse fields.
Daniel Simu: circus artist and inventor
Marissa’s Most Interesting Person.
By day you’ll find him juggling hoops, people or fire; by night, working with wood, code and electronics. Driven by an enthusiasm for surprising others, he explores the weird, the quirky, the wacky and the impossible through his artistic performances and installations.
Allard Krijger - Electronic Music Pioneer
Allard Krijger is the most interesting person of Julien Chaptal. Known as FRAKnoise, is a leading figure in electronic music. His career of over two decades has solidified his reputation as an innovator in the field. FRAKnoise is known for his mastery of unconventional instruments like the theremin and Soma Terra, which bring a distinctive quality to his performances.
FRAKnoise challenges traditional music norms by advocating for a more intuitive and creative approach to electronic music. He believes that conventional music notation can hinder innovation and limit the potential of electronic instruments. At an upcoming event, he will delve into this topic to inspire a new perspective on music creation.
FRAKnoise's live performances have wowed audiences worldwide with their intricate layers of sound and rhythm. His upcoming event promises an immersive experience featuring the theremin and Soma Terra, showcasing his unique talent and forward-thinking approach to electronic music.
Let’s visit the dark side of innovation at the Most Interesting Person session #2 at STUSTUSTUDIO in Amsterdam Noord!
